Brooklyn Bridge-Brooklyn to NYC-walkway,lovely!

Yesterday My husband Kevin and I walked across the Brooklyn bridge with my daughter Bree and her friend Katta. The weather was a little chilly but a sweatshirt was all we really needed. The views were spectacular!
Katta was the only real 'tourist' among us,she is from Berlin, Germany. I have a few days that I call best days and yesterday is one of them. Although a couple of little things went wrong, it was really fun.
We walked from Brooklyn to Manhattan although the NYC guide books tell us it's better to go the other way.I only looked in the guide book because I didn't know the name of the street that the bridge's walkway( Tillery and Adams) started on.We had a little trouble with the GPS. Good thing my husband was driving.
We live about an hour away on Long Island. If the traffic is good ,which it was.
I am not a person who will drive in the city, I have driven in Harlem to pick up my daughter from college but I would never drive mid-town,or downtown. Driving in Brooklyn is like driving in hell . I have driven around parts of Queens but do not care for that much either.
Once we got into Brooklyn the GPS lied to us once and tried to get us to make a left that we couldn't. We finally saw some signs that were helpful and we found a lot on Adams to park the car.The walkway was at the end of the block and after a brief pitstop at Starbucks to pee then we walked up the walkway to the bridge. I was especially looking forward to taking some photos. I have no fancy camera but the bridge comes out well even on my disposable .
I wanted to take a re-take of a picture my husband and I had taken of us in front of the Brooklyn bridge plaque. The last one we took there was in 1977. He was 22 and I was 20. This time a stranger didn't take the photo my daughter did.
Like I said the views are stunning. We saw the statue of liberty,Chelsea piers and the new Freedom Tower. I think it is very pretty but I missed seeing the beautiful Twin Towers. We tried to guess what Islands we were seeing.I did not remember the name of the Manhattan bridge but Kevin did. I really like doing touristy things!
Manhattan does not get old to me.
I love going into the city and feel like a tourist when I am there ,not a rubbernecker type but one who admires so much of the beautiful architecture! I love the old buildings they have so much character. I saw a beautiful church ,It had a great old cemetery.I think it was St. Andrews and it was built in the 1770's.We walked down to the freedom tower and although it is sad thinking about the twin towers,it was good to see progress on the rebuilding.
For me it was a lot of walking because my knee wasn't up to it after having injured it back in June. So the girls and us split up the girls going up town on the subway to meet my other daughter at her college and my husband and I back to Brooklyn via the bridge. It was one of those days that was so very nice.If you ever have the chance to do itI reccommend it Go in good weather, wearing comfy shoes and stay out of the bike lane Hipsters can be dangerous!

I love it, Denise! It sounds like you guys had a great time! Was Kevin wearing the same jacket in the new picture? That's so cool :)
