Who is that old woman in my mirror??

I first noticed her when I was forty.
It was just a quick glimpse, she was checking me out in my first pair of reading glasses. Looking in the Davisvision mirror I saw someone I barely recognized. I shrugged it off as not being able to see clearly with the reading glasses in the mirror .I guess I went to my( self denial )happy place !
For a few years I did not see her again and I was glad. She did pop in a few times when my children hit milestone birthdays you know 16,18,20 etc.
Finally at 50 I embraced her. As my dad would of said "getting old sure beats the alternative".There is no such thing as growing old gracefully and whoever said there was was not there yet!!I don't mind being old. I remember saying I'll never go grey! Not as long as there is Loreal hair dye 'because I'm worth it"! You know what? I say screw it!! I like my grey I earned every damn one.
I still crank up the music in my car. I love walking the cutest pitbull in the world. I have days when I feel old. My body feels like 80 instead of 54. I love where I am. I love knowing that my kids are grown and will be on there own soon. My husband is only a couple of years from retiring ,and I hope we are able to do some road trips when that happens. I want to be like my grandmother who said to me on her 100th birthday " I am starting to get old". She was remarkable. She was mowing her yard with a push mower then. Yes ,at 100 years old . So I guess I have a way to go. Maybe I'll see that woman in the mirror again but today she only looked 50 ,not bad!
