Pitbulls and Fuzzy Dogs
I have had all kinds of dogs in my life. All but one were mutts. I wanted a German Shepherd for as long as I can remember, I finally had one and my kids named him St.rider. I really loved that dog. He was a big scaredy cat of a dog! He was sure he was a lap dog even when I told him otherwise. Before Strider I had a lab mix named Holly, and I did not think I would ever find another dog like her. She would tolerate anything. She lived a long life without ever making a growl type sound. She had the best tolerance of any dog I had know till then, and now I own a pitbull.
Chico is entirely different than any other dog I have owned . A little back note I NEVER thought I'd own a pit bull!. I had heard all the terrible stories about them. I do remember that I had heard the same type of stories about German Shepherds but since I grew up around them I knew first hand the stories weren't true.Pitbulls on the other hand had a massive stigma attached to them firstly because they are used in fighting. What people fail to see is these dogs are trained to fight. Secondly because of all the publicity that reporting on pitbull fighting sells news, so does any story on a pitbull attack (or bite) .I am not saying that they don't bite or sometimes their bites can do severe damage I am saying it's not just pitbulls. All Dogs bite small dogs can cause bad bites-all strong dogs can cause damage.
They do not have a "locking" jaw . They are not "naturally " aggressive dogs. They have bad reputation for mainly one reason greed. They are taught to fight for that reason. I believe They are also used on television shows as ratings boosters to raise hype about them being evil dogs! I'll explain what I mean-if Judge Judy has a "dog bite case", people are not going to be interested but when the coming up next blurb comes on with Pitbull mauls dog" ,people tune in. What gets me mad it when she (or other television shows) say it was a pitbull like dog or "he bit her like a pitbull." You know it is just hype that adds to the prejudice against the breed. Part 2 to follow- Have a great day. Have to run to work.
